Customizing menus: section-specific menus? (specific menus on specific pages) - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi all,

here's question:
i want menus appear in each section or category, regardless of  how user got there. "show/hide" in module's menu editor lets show/hide based on specific menu link(s) person clicked. work, in case want (just once) "this menu appears (and other menus not) long within section (or category).  how this?

the "show" instruction on each link not foolproof, since people add new links in section, , forget tell menu stay visible on link also.

let's menus this:

topmenu:
  us
  services
  news
  etc

mainmenu:
  main1
  main2

services:
  services 1
  services 2

using module manager -> edit module -> menu assignment, set menus "select list". instruct show services side menu  when user clicks 'services' in topmenu. far good.

but services menu disappears if user clicks in services menu.

ok, 1 approach return menu assignment services, , set menu selection select add links within section.
this works also, not foolproof , not scale...

the danger if content person adds new link services menu - "services 3", services menu again disappear when user clicks link. because site editor "forgot" go menu assignment, , have menu continue display on new link...

so question becomes, there way in menu editor indicate "this menu should visible content inside section"? again, specifying each link in services menu functionally identical ask, except admin overhead , potential missed steps.

this seems such straightforward, common operation must missing in documentation have arrived @ workaround i've got...
