Generating and Fixing up TOC

hi- generated table of contents , page numbers right against titles. have read can go reference pages , add tabs spacers. however, when try add tab within reference page, tab disappeared. has version 8 chnaged in terms of creating tab stops? still going them right way?

* tab must exist in paragraph tag formats entry. example heading1toc must have tab set up.
