Making static content viewable to guests - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hey,

i'm new joomla , can't understand something. i'm setting website using joomla , needed page of information (no fancy blog content blocks etc) used components create static content page created link on menu.

now, when go site logged out, can click on button access page , view without problems. if link directly page somewhere else (e.g. external website) told not have permission view page , must login. on clicking "home"  clicking button menu, will let me see page! should viewable instantly when clicks link it.

i have ensured settings on public, can't issue.

have missed anything? doesn't make sense me it's vital can link pages directly used informative resources forum (hosted elsewhere).

are setting menu items each article? 

if so, have tried using url generated "unique itemid" radio button set yes?

i've more consistent results linking articles have unique id.  there may way, have create dummy/unused menu used generate unique id's , associated url's.
