changes in com_config not saved: tried vith apply , /or save option.
after returning configuration default data on, timesettings , metedata...

also don't know how on main (home) page got symbols on top left side corner  ( ) , don't know go remove them.

saving global configuration - configuration.php writable?

it should chmod 777 , see @ top of config screen (admin backend) - configuration.php : writeable

as far random text goes - perhaps you've got corrupt installation? try re-ftping core files. may solve global config problems.
