Which directories can I password protect? - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi all.

i real newbie.  hosting site @ 1and1.com , allow me password protect directories. wondering ones should/can safely lock?

depends on protecting against...  can password protect top-level if want, requiring site visitors have login through secondary protection before accessing site. or if want protect administration site can set htaccess protection on " administrator/ " directory, frontend site still accessible public, administrators need login twice.
