hi,
i'm still running fm 7.2, have 8.0, not ready company move yet.
i capturing legacy fm information , need save xml.
this information @ times have paragraphs used hard carriage returns build in separation , make things easier read.
when export xml, these hard crs removed , white space compressed out of element.
this causing grief people reading documents , have asked if can retain hard breaks.
i've looked structured application , found nothing. i've looked @ readwrite rules files in hopes map hard break element of kind, or that. i'm not finding solutions.
is there way keep information in resulting xml file?
thanks,
- mike

mike,
there read/write rule instruction "preserve line breaks" keep line breaks (shift+return) line breaks in xml. little bit hard parse if want further process documents , not xml-stylish, because in other places whitespace not important.
i recommend including empty element
formatting rule creates prefix or suffix of "\n".
