i reading jeff schewe's excellent "about camera raw 4.1" article in photoshopnews , learning great deal until got portion on "defringe controls". sort of surprised section because didn't remember acr having defringe capability when process raw file in photoshop elements 6 (windows), or, matter, "lens correction" tab supposed bring defringe sliders. sure enough, checked, , tabs see "basic" , "detail".

is punishment buying low $ product, or have somethiing set-up wrong?

yes, camera raw in elements "elemental" (meaning high end stuff isn't there).
