Thread: Karmic wi-fi issues

i need help. updated karmic , of sudden ran bunch of problems biggest doesn't recognized have wireless device. dual boot , know fact signal in range. wireless device intel(r) wifi link 5100 agn. i'm not linux savy appreciated.

you need firmware, can firmware intel wireless website, here link: http://intellinuxwireless.org/. i'm pretty sure found firmware need right here. download need make sure have build-essential package installed, can running:

apt-get install build-essential

then once have installed, can install firmware running:

code:

tar -xzf iwlwifi*

then need move file /usr/firmware, run:

code:

mv iwlwifi*/iwlwifi* /usr/firmware/

then need load module running:

code:

modprobe iwlagn

reboot, , see if gets , running.
