Hot SD cards - Raspberry Pi Forums

i got raspberry pi 3 out today try , program new 8bitdo nes30 controller. when added power , put aside let boot , after couple minutes picked , burnt hand.

sd card holder hot enough start fire. if had system in case thin battery underneath prolly have.

afterwards popped in 16gb had loaded 0 , works fine in either of pi's.

did looking around , nobody knows why. or how fix it. ive tried reboots no effect

later tried re-format , image card gets hot try anything.

there nothing unusual done card. had been running same card system @ least few weeks latest raspbian version. it's sandisk micro sd 32gb

dangerous problem , needs investigated , fixed.

i had samsung evo pro+ card smoke , burned out 1st time powered on pi3 out of box. card retail package best buy , had been using in pi 2 few weeks until doing raspbian update , inserting in pi 3.

1st time connecting power there no video , disconnected upon smell of burning plastic. pi 3 metal sd card slot cover yank away hot, after removing burned card , letting cool down, risked sd card , booted right , has been working since using multiple sd cards , power supplies.

still need file warranty claim, though i'm not sure samsung accept it, card has brown burn spot.
