Thread: Lubuntu Desktop Package is well, rather... uh... not what the screens showed

so, decided install lubuntu-desktop package mini.iso. fine, until got desktop.

a. lubuntu uses gnome-panel, not lxpanel default
b. lubuntu not come wallpapers (including nice lxde wallpaper.
c. lubuntu installs metacity, gtk, qt doesn't install of themes (ie: human metacity, clearlooks, etc. gtk , qt base themes.)
d. lubuntu installs synaptic firefox, , removing firefox , firefox 3.5 make synaptic in auto-remove list, sadly.
e. wicd give nice error when first configure in setup portion of installation in minimal install. don't fret though, it's somehow normal. select users want added netdev, , it'll add netdev , users @ end.
f. wicd tries auto-connect right-click menu, if have security-enabled network, left click wicd icon instead , click network's connect button on wicd dialog.
g. pidgin installed default (just xubuntu) yay
h. nautilis installed though pcman installed.
i. no splash screen, have install xsplash manually (this give ubuntu xsplash , ubuntu gdm theme.)
j. leafpad default text editor. yay
k. ubuntu distros, firefox default. suggest removing , installing midori. remember, said before, synaptic in autoremove list when this! not autoremove blindly!
l. smplayer , mplayer default media players. unfortunately, don't play files on lubuntu reason. suggest totem, since have tons of gnome stuff in lubuntu.
m. lubuntu installs (as said above) lots , lots , lots of gnome, kde , xfce stuff.
n. pulseaudio installed. cannot install esound, not work of release of ubuntu (esound cannot started @ all, esd hang terminal.)
o. transmission installed (i suggest deluge.)
p. fast user switch applet crash login. remove it.

if you're running thinkpad t41 me, resolution @ 1400 x 1050, switching lower, may cause not able login again on gdm. yeah, there's... there's testimonial lubuntu package.

who cares? how time spend watching boot screen?

so install deluge.
