Energy effiient timelapse camera setup - Raspberry Pi Forums

i working on timelapse camera project.

use

raspberry pi 3 model b (not ideal, know. 1 hands on @ time)
12 v battery bank (8x1.5v aa batteries)
ubec 5v, 3a

run crontab (3 pictures/day)

setup lasted 1 day...

more efficient run e.g. python script; loop - take picture, sleep (24h), take picture...?

tips improving setup welcome.

if leave raspi powered whole time, drain batteries no matter what.
