hi!
if reboot our backup server (an old pentium 2 450mhz) without monitor (headless) or different monitor used during install (a crt lg 901b 19") hangs , monitor go standby during login or startup of gnome (can't alt-f2, caps lock , num lock unresponsive. ctrl-alt-del doesn't work). installed ubuntu desktop 9.04 jaunty jackalope. have tried ubuntu 8 also, time got worse problems file corruption, after updating , rebooting, requiring re-install (repair options @ time didn't work).
tried few grup safe mode options packagde checker , xfix graphics repair no difference.
if connect original dell lcd monitor boots , logins gnome fine.
there underlying system flaw or old pc use? can make work without monitor?
