How do I change menu item from login to logout after user logs in - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi, has been answered have spent half day searching files , forums no success.  pretty simple html code far cannot work.

how can create menu item display "login" when user has not logged in , "logout" after user has logged in?

i not want display login form static content, link on menu.  way have found create new menu item com_login static title.  have been working on off , on 4 days , getting frustrated.
