Cannot install Joomla 1.0.9 because of sql errors (RESOLVED) - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi all,

i'm virgin on joomla , i'm trying install in testing environment
(xp sp2/apache2.2.4/php5.2.1/mysql5.0.37/phpmyadmin2.10.0.2).

---------- trying install joomla_1.0.9-stable-full_package----------------
however, during installation after enter necessary details mysql (i.e localhost, root, password, db_name) next page (browser address .../installation/install2.php)... comes sql errors...  in mysql database fills 34 tables (how many tables should there be???) , spits out sql code contains errors.

i.e ------------------------------------------------------------------------
sql=blob/text column \'text\' can\'t have default
value sql=# table structure table
'jos_poll_data'\n\ncreate table 'jos_poll_data' (\n
'id' int(11) .... etc. etc.

# table structure table '#_poll_data'

etc etc etc... goes (just guess) 50 lines.

assumptions can made
1. apache/php/mysql working correctly , talking amonst each other quite nicely.... phpmyadmin has mbstring error.
2. have matched configuration joomla pre-installation checklist.
3. when run joomla_hisa_en.php... shows 92% complete... doesn't specify errors are!!! annoying

any suggestions , appreciated!

hi, welcome forum. why installing 1.0.9? @ moment, 1.0.12 latest verstion. there have been security issues since 1.0.9 resolved in 1.0.12.
