External HDD becomes read-only - Raspberry Pi Forums

i have pi2 running headless, transmission bit torrent client downloading usb hard drive powered hub. has run flawlessly no downtime months, weekend checking on downloads , transmission reported drive read-only. reboot cleared up... few hours. external drive (2tb drive, 1tb used), continues become read-only in mid operation. i've confirmed mount command, , output different before , after error occurs.

can provide insight why might happen, and/or how stop it?

run s.m.a.r.t tools on drive, fail catastrophically.
