Beginner please help! need bluetooth for controller - Raspberry Pi Forums

hello new raspberry pi. have searched numerous forums can't seem find anything. cannot start bluetooth on pi. have tried 3 different bluetooth dongles no luck. trying connect ps3 controller via bluetooth. have usb cord plugged remote , dongle plugged in. no luck. post have entered following command:

sudo service bluetooth status

, comes active: failed status running

appreciated on how connect bluetooth dongle ps3 controller.

in advance.

have installed bluetooth drivers , software first??
"sudo apt-get update"
"sudo apt-get install bluetooth blueman bluez"
reboot
