Camera raw doesn't open after PS hangup

i had ps hang while loading raw file. closed using file manager. since unable open file in camera raw. if select raw file in bridge , go 'file, open in camera raw' hangs until press enter key reactivates bridge. same thing happens in ps. believe camera raw waiting response in background can find no link or solution other using enter key clear it.
i have downloaded cr 4.3.1 , reinstalled no avail.
ps v10.0.1 , bridge 2.1.1.9
win xp, lots of storage , memory, rebooted several times.
any ideas or suggestions?

maybe try refresh preferences both ps , bridge??
