all,
first, yes i've filed bug on this, come in , see if else having same "fun" i'm having.
environment: large installation using nis , automounted (nfs) shares things home data etc. running 32 , 64 bit freebsd, centos, , *buntu.(mostly ubuntu there of more choice)
problem: when able assign static ip (works easier ubuntu not kubuntu) in 64 bit system running 9.10 cannot bind nis domain nor can mount nfs share. nis sits churning , churning till times out. am-utils start, run, nothing. take same box. put on dhcp , poof works.
before tells me how use dhcp assign , address, know how one,due usage of system or requirements in other area's dhcp not answer systems here. dhcp mac cannot done.
32-bit 9.10 .... no problem. can assign , use expected. network manager still tries desperately give me dhcp address work, , stay static. how serious problem us. next week cto has called meeting decide future of *buntu in office, , i'd have real answers him. not fun.
again if of matches have found , worked around, please let me know. time.
edit: 1 additional .... can't use networkmanager.applet due homes being on nfs mount, , logins on nis have have static ip's come before login. or else no 1 can, login
i know it's not ideal, can use 32-bit server?
using dhcp server?
i'll try replicate setup best can , see if find anything.![]()
