Adobe GoLive CS. Help required please

i have started teach myself go live of classroom in book. have constructed web page instructed, using layout grid , image place holders. added text using layout text boxes , laid out simple table using table icon added text. feeling quite pleased myself reviewed web page in preview , in browser (mozilla firefox). horror, on page had changed position. table different shape 1 had specified. links, @ bottom of page had moved on top of table! there nothing in book or on-line explain doing wrong.
can me? sure making basic mistakes unable solve problem beginner programme
