Trouble uploading to atmega328p-pu (breadboard) using FTDI

hi folks,

i'm experimenting first "breadboard arduino" (i own uno , nano need lower power setup new project).

i bought components on ebay (this) , wired on breadboard. please see attachment picture of wiring.

when plug ftdi programmer (3.3v) macbook via mini usb port, power led flashes couple of times (i suppose it's bootloading stage) flashes solid red indefinitely. when try uploading simple "blink" program arduino ide, power led (pin 13) fades, , not blink anymore. arduino ide tells me "avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 10 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x00"

if unplug ftdi macbook, wait few seconds, , plug again, bootloading stage starts again until led solid red. seems clear sketch never uploaded.

i have configured arduino ide with:
- "arduino pro or pro mini"
- atmega328 (3.3v, 8mhz)
- port /dev/tty.usbserial-a50285bi

i tried uploading windows 7 computer, , got exact same result.

after scratching head few days , having checked wiring multiple times, i'm bit @ loss can make work. appreciated.

is stand alone atmega328p preloaded bootloader? if not see this: http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=317138.0
