Powering Off: Does the arduino know when you turn it off?

hey everyone,

is there way software-wise arduino know moment unplugging it?  my arduino project sends out serial data based on voltage readings potentiometers.  if turn off arduino runs unit, random data gets sent out serial out moment.  i assume because voltage coming out of 5v droping 0, , therefore triggering serial write code tells do.  i way in software block potentiometer reading section moment arduino knows it's powered off.  any ideas?

thanks!! :)

there brownout feature trigger reset if voltage drops below level. upon power-up flag available indicating brown-out took place, , can take action. see atmega data sheet.
