hi,
i have chapter within book contains alot of photos, of want give figure number, ie figure 7-1, 7-2 etc (7 being chapter number). please can me out how automate process no doubt adding more photos document , don't want have manually re-number figures throughout. have tried several times create format, ends affecting numbered lists appear before , after photographs.
i hope have made sense in explaining this!!

avril,<br /><br />use series numbers in autonumbering. these single characters<br />at start of auto-number followed colon, e.g.<br /><br />c:<$chapnum>-<n+> chapter plus section number<br />f:<$chapnum>-<n+> figure number<br /><br />these series numbers work independently of each other. see fm<br />manual or online more details.
