after new installing cs3 (from dvd) , launching photoshop, adobe updater launches automatically in background , promptly goes 100% cpu loop. it's hung @ dialog

the dialog shows empty progress bar. in processexplorer there's 1 thread , seems hung in createthread. processexplorer shows has 1 tcp socket open connection akamai server. wireshark shows there initial traffic (a few dozen packets) consiting of xml data, , nothing other keepalives being exchanged. no data transfer in last 20 minutes.
the process not killable. have reboot machine, , takes 15 minutes complete.
i know adobe updater shipped cs3 (on media) had severe problems. there way download more recent cs3-compatible installer? solution past hang?

i found solution!!!!!
navigate applications->utilities->adobe utilities->adobe updater 5 , launch update util. if launch manually there, runs!!!
