Cannot import cross reference formats from template

i have template have removed cross ref formats from, , want these cross refs imported book/document.

i have done standard: file> import> formats..

i have selected options, , "removed other format/layout overrides". "import document" check box, have correct template selected. have tried selecting "cross reference formats" option.

yet when complete process, working book/documents not display cross ref's template. have imported formats book, , individual documents in book. neither take changes. document import new cross ref formats, , not delete old ones? @ loss. in advance light shed on this.

have updated cross-references after imported formats?

if formats named identically, fm replace old
ones, otherwise add them document.
