bought poweredge 5110 year ago , has used windows pc since. lately have changed whole network linux network porting machines ubuntu. current workstation p/edge connected ubuntu 9.04 64bit ( linux yancho-ubuntu 2.6.28-16-generic #55-ubuntu smp tue oct 20 19:48:32 utc 2009 x86_64 gnu/linux )
have followed tutorials set nut able provide me ups monitoring no avail.
info "dmesg" gives me:

when try test ups activity get:

can't set powerware usb configuration
unable find powerware ups device on usb bus
things try:
- connect ups device usb bus
- run driver user (upsdrvctl -u or 'user=...' in ups.conf).
see upsdrvctl(8) , ups.conf(5).
fatal error: unusable configuration
driver failed start (exit status=1)
starting trouble me installed poweware software naming network shutdown module , personal solutions pac. latter downloaded 32bit module , using "getlibs" installed system.
network shutdown module saying: "no device discovered." whilst personal solutions pac prompts popup saying: "no ups found. check ups usb or serial cable plugged".
tried following compiling tutorial after removed packages. tutorial is: http://www.networkupstools.org/doc/2.2.0/install.html
has put me situation without ups , have forked loads of money (here in malta not cheap!) absolutely nothing , having server risking borked because of electricity.
in solving issue extremely appreciated.
