i want able press button on arduino , start saving nmea 0183 data lowerance hds 7 fishfinder sd card. fishfinder has wires tx +/- , rx +/- , uses rs-422 serial (page 31 of pdf below). beginner , how go doing this?

you can buy rs422 ttl adapter , read fishfinder output directly arduino, via serial port.
