Swordplay hit tracker. proximity detection in copper wire - Raspberry Pi Forums

im totaly new raspberry pi, have experience programing , some* computer building. if can find out if possible jump head first.
ive loved swordplay, , growing me , siblings had foam beatstick settle petty squabble. im older , looking make method of madness, i've tried larp before, great, tell foam combat aspect has there own way of doing things, battle staffs , hammers, daggers , every sort of wonky looking swords. combat anarchy. , never it.

imagine sword based laser tag system can outfitted foam sword or larp attire. something.that can take guesswork out of scorekeeping , pave way status effects , differing weapon damages. undershirt , tape containing copper wire.

ive had idea quite time, , im wondering if there way might accomplish feat raspberry pi. there's 2 ways can think of handle close contact proximity detection, both might impossible. suggestions appreciated

first method use difference in charge, copper wires embedded in undershirt have slight electric/static charge opposite of sword edge copper tape. can accomplished ion generator. when 1 opponents shirt detects hit @ same time other opponents sword registers hit, bluetooth message transfers data damage weapon , status effects applied.
drawbacks data must sent through bluetooth, , many combatants on field, there's potentially no way avoid mixing strikes nearby players without low latency computing. sword have insulated shirt, still able collect ions taken shirt. meaning ether have connected via wire clip or specialized pair of gloves. gloves can difficult , dexterity reducing, , finding fit costly.
, finally, projectile weapons not register hits, , there's no way around that.

second method may not remotely possible, haven't degree of knowledge on radio waves. idea broadcast weak radio signal swords, near contact between sword , player should registered shirt hit. said, have no idea if work, research can find on radio waves seems extending range, not shortening it.
however, prove significant advantages on differing charges method. data can transferred through radio waves, , each weapon have own stand alone system allowing ranged weapons.

need know. there way seems remotely possible using raspberry pi? , if so, there way detect change in static charge? or broadcast/receive low power radio waves?

somewhat similar - otherwise different - fencing. okay, there's 2 people involved, have start somewhere!
