Newbie vs Contitional Cross-References

i working on document published both pdf , html via robohelp. on pdf version want cross references say:

see "topic" on page x.

but on html want:

see "topic".

i know can put both cross references in document , use conditional text blank 1 of them out depending on document, there easier more elegant method?

marjorie, in case there differences in capabilities between versions (esp. new technical communications suite) specify versions of both fm , robohelp.
