Any experience with ISL29125 RGB sensor?

using sparkfun's turorial have isl29125 breakout hooked , getting lots of grey-blues rather decent colours. (yes, have 3.3/5v thing taken care of level shifter; device initialises successfully.)

i'm sending r,g , b python reconstituted colour everythings coming out kind of dull.

"servo orange"comes out yucky grey/blue/green example. bright light goes white, cover , goes black, no real rainbow moments in between.

in defence it's "rgb light sensor" not "colour sensor" such, although supplied code split 3 elements of r, g , b out.

i hoping results this guy got, although that's different sensor.

anyone used sensor (in sparkfun breakout or not)? if so, success? did use tutorial code or what?
