Thread: Kubuntu 9.10 (Second try)


so first install of kubuntu 9.10 didn't go well. because last time used kde kde 3.5.

many things have changed

during weeks lug meeting convinced give kubuntu 9.10 try. after learning (and still am) new functions of kde 4.x have got it's smooth. compiz integration done, @ times consumes less system resources gnome, , there virtually nothing cannot tweaked liking.

gtk+ integration flawless. favorite gtk+ apps such banshee same treatment when comes themes, fonts, , other appearance settings.

have found be faster gnome in areas such boot up, , coming suspend/resume., , program loading.


thomasaaron, not cpu cycle issue anymore fresh install.



said kde 4.3 not stable gnome, , has little bit go before it's ready production machine.

kde 4.5 be, , after doing reading future of kde have foresee kde dominate desktop environment on conventional desktop/laptop, , gnome leading way linux based mids, tablets, , other future computing devices. not netbooks moblin, , google chrome os have control of those.

thoughts?


people having upgrade issues. in future releases recommend doing fresh installs, it's not ubuntu goes through 6+ months of upgrade testing. if you're not kind of person hates occasional hiccups stick lts.
