is there way create global style catalog in framemaker that, when modify character or paragraph style in 1 document can save changes catalog available other documents?
i know can create new document using document template, , know can select single document base document or "template" , manually add style changes catalog, presents 2 problems:
1- need manually make changes in template document after make them in new document.
2- need manually import update styles existing documentation.
both of these actions require manual effort , inevitably lead out of sync catalogs.
does know of way create global catalog can save style changes?

you can copy paragraph , character formats between documents , templates. template nothing more document without content, formats stored in it.
depending upon workflow, suggest making changes in template file, copying formats template file each of document files. command file > import > formats. in dialog box, can select kinds of formats import.
you can of course make change in document file , import template file, if have formats in document file not want in template file, have delete them template file. why best update template file directly.
to knowledge, there no frame feature stores changes in document file automatically template file. document file not know template created; template information stored in document file itself.
