attaching a thumbnail to a book cover for my eBook


my gear: windows vista ultimate, 64-bit.
my objective: attach thumbnail version of ebook cover ebook book cover, adobe digital edition version cool.
what i've done: distiller set ebooks, i've created pdf book cover , thumbnail, using ifan , openoffice.
result: i'm stuck. cover in pdf/a mode. can't attach.
you can tell i'm noob. however, have done solve problem, follows:
1.i closed adobe acrobat 9 standard.
2.opened window folder, i'd have pdf thumb , pdf full size cover before me. minimized window.
3.i opened beloved adobe acrobat 9 standard.
4.i selected file>combine>assemble. got blank screen. says 'home/ in upper left hand corner. call window a. size window fits left hand side of desktop.
5.i brought minimized window. call window b. sized window b fits right hand side of desktop.
6.i dragged pdf book cover file, still in pdf/a mode, window b, window a.
7.in window a: selected file>combine>merge files. i'm 'merging' single file single pdf.
8. window appears. says: file portfolio1.pdf pdf portfolio contains multiple files. files within pdf portfolio have been added file list. clicked ok.
9.now i'm in window titled combine files. single pdf selected. red x in remove square, bottom of window. pdf/a book cover file file in list.
10.i selected file highlight it.
11.i selected combine files.
12.a save window opens. renamed book cover book cover not in pdf mode
13.now, non-pdf/a book cover opens in adobe acrobat 9 standard.
14.in lower left hand corner of adobe 9 window, right click comments icon, , select attachments.
15.i select add new attachment.
16.my pdf files come (they not come in pdf/a mode), , select thumbnail pdf. attaches.
17.yay. i'm done.

if there's quicky professional way this, please add thread, may learn mistakes.
