okay, here's want do: want rip collection of various tv series (read: multiple episodes per disc rip) onto desktop, can use create random playlist play several hours each night.
(my wife loves falling asleep heinousness of law , order , csi - go figure...should scared?)
i've played around several rippers (dvd::rip , acidrip) , had weird dependency issues trying install them (ffmpeg doesn't install lot of editing , ripping software...and dvd::rip needs that)...and i'm not sure they're best way go.
suggest best way rip these episodes? best format (avi, mpeg...)? want near cd quality, rather keep file size 1gb or less per episode...
, suggest playing them back? want either able have make random playlist, or make 1 myself....the best make playlist of least viewed episodes, there less repetition...
please, , suggestions! should try out ubuntu studio? or there else should think about?
