when plugging headphones laptop speakers muted start getting strange "running" (as in hard drive/fan spooling) noises coming through speakers. remove headphones sound disappears strange indeed. have ideas or have seen similar issue? has happened since updating 9.10 , doesn't happen in windows vista.
using pulse audio on fresh install of karmic.
