i bought arduino uno r3 few weeks ago , have been playing running ide 1.6.2 on os x 10.10.2. today looking 1 of adafruits libraries said had issues 1.6 ides downloaded 1.0.6 ide.
after opening 1.0.6 ide, no longer see serial connection through tools -> serial port menu.
the other thing changed used external power adapter first time (12v 1.5a).
i don't see how either of these affect serial connection not work.
any appreciated!!

run "system information" , check board still shows under usb. if doesn't there wrong arduino, cable, the usb port, or usb drivers. have tried going usb power? did have else connected arduino? is genuine arduino using atmega16u4 usb serial or clone using other chip?
