we experiencing issue built-in png file format plugin, consistent across multiple versions of os x on fully-patched cs3 design premium. i'm hoping hear others have seem similar.
we deployed 1.8tb network drive via windows server 2003. since cannot read or write png files, not preview through file dialog, without hanging cs3 application interminably. have done our testing in photoshop , illustrator. same occurs opening file directly finder these apps. connecting server via smb. other file operations function every other format. working pngs outside of creative suite works fine.
it isolated png. have tested same file on sub-terabyte volume on same file server , png files opened , saved expected. on large terabyte+ volume exhibits these issues.
there no recovering error. application beachballs , never returns activity, no matter how long 1 waits.
we have tried alternative png plugin ensure not kind of special cross-platform metadata needs somehow occur under hood file format. have tested superpng replacement , functions 1 expect, opening , saving files , without issue.
has else seen this? don't have drives large locally on of our machines can test outside of network environment.

adobe has recommended save local hd copy server. know going tell me impractical. bottom line there many variables adobe responsible don't support it. department figure out.
