Thread: Computer playing up after 9.04 --> 9.10 upgrade

here's last attempt before clean install , loose installed applications , settings etc.....

since upgrade 9.10 computer has started behave strangely. right after boot works fine, half hour or minute.
menus disappear, applications don't start up, can't shut down icons disappear. can't open terminal etc, can turn power off , start again, , hope best.

un-installed old kernels , re-installed latest (for 9.10).

error messages - eg "can't find parent directory" when trying open application - not.

suggestions? don't want make clean install if have to.
have of stuff backed latest back-up wouldn't work either: "problems when trying copy. access denied".
said, these things happen @ random, there seems no pattern in @ all.

i suggest booting live cd, , running fsck on partition.
