i planning build automatic storage , retrieval of object in huge vertical box contains 300 free spaces. more cnc router gripper mechanism. each object contains rfid tag. @ first collecting data rfid reader , gripper go , collect object , put anywhere among 300 free places. should store position of box along information collected rfid tag retrieval purposes.
which kind of controller should use ?

i think find lot of useful background information in stepper motor basics.
any of arduino boards should able manage task. if beginner best start uno "standard".
have figured out mechanical design sounds quite challenging? perhaps can post diagram showing have in mind.
would servo suitable gripper mechanism?
