How to use HM-10(iBeacon?) with my project

hey,

i trying wrap head around possibilities of hm-10 new lot of how works. familiar higher level things.

i thought going use hm-10 ibeacon found out it's limitations. here original plan prior:

ibeacon(hm-10) broadcast in particular room, when walk in iphone, detects iphone , something, i.e sets 1 of pins high or sets arduino pin high.

but based on research now, not possible ibeacon? need use ibeacon broadcasting in hand regular bluetooth?

as in, upon app/phone detecting ibeacon pairs hm-10 , sends at- command set 1 of pins high. or send string passed on arduino serial , dealt there?

does of make sense? provide more input?

i in process of putting iphone app wanted know if on right track.
