Standby SLA 6v battery ( & charger)

hi,
i've built charger (with lm312). i've got 1 6v-7ah battery.
the idea use above arduino ups. not use arduino's built in regulator. instead i'll use 5v ldo regulator , connect it's output arduino's vin.

i use an  ltc4412 in order feed power supply when power present or battery when it's not. browsing application notes of ltc4412 http://cds.linear.com/docs/en/datasheet/4412fb.pdf think need implement circuit of figure 3 @ page 10.

my understanding "wall adapter input" should connected unregulated input of lm312 of charger circuit.

do right?

as alternative feasible connect input of ldo battery's pole , not use ltc4412?

thanks in advance!

i not use arduino's built in regulator. instead i'll use 5v ldo regulator , connect it's output arduino's vin.
vin input of onboard regulator.
the onboard regulator low drop regulator (~1volt).

there many ways skin cat.
i have used 12volt sla battery , charger, straight dc socket.
that have preserved usb switching circuitry, senses >=6.6volt vin.
when run time important, and/or high-drain 5volt sensors used, replace onboard regulator pololu 5volt/500ma micro switchmode supply.
leo..
