Heatsink question - Raspberry Pi Forums

i overclock raspberry pi 2 use kodi on raspbian (it looks slow , have wait 3 seconds every operation). setup is:

code: select all

boot_delay=1 initial_turbo=30 arm_freq=1050 core_freq=500 sdram_freq=500 over_voltage=4 temp_limit=70 gpu_mem=320
idle temps ~49°c , kodi ones ~56°c. if know these pretty normal values, put 2 pieces of aluminium heatsink small fan (12v 0.07a) on it. image
high 1 fan, height does't create problems fan placed on top, while small 1 sized soc (using middle line), , usb/ethernet chip (using lateral line).
:?: 1 suggest me cooling?
:?: also, need thermal adesive or thermal paste?
:?: if in opinion don't notice significant temperature difference between 2 types, suggest me 1 of them or part of each 1 (for praticality)?
:?: tried connect fan first 2 right gpio (5v) didn't start, when if connected pc motherboard (12v) starts, think problem is?
:?: setup safe or change something?
know these lot of questions didn't want open lot of different threads me, , i'll glad of of answers, in advance

neither. if reach 55°c cooling unnecessary.
alphajack wrote: :?: also, need thermal adesive or thermal paste?
if use heatsink, thermal paste necessary make work properly.

whatever fits best.

if used 2 5v pins, connected together, both @ same voltage. need 1 5v , 1 0v pin. 12v fan designed 12v, there no guarantee start @ 5v. heatsink on pi2, not need fan. without heatsink, won't anyway.

afaict, quite safe. pi can run 85°c without problems.
