Thread: Automatically alter default file permissions at creation


hi,

first of want thank allowing me part of ubuntu community. hope i'm able provide support people less familiar ubuntu am, receiving issues. since first post , i'm austria want apologize bad english

issue. @ place i've set ubuntu server (9.10) , works expected it. i've got samba server , running enables flat-share colleagues access common drive.
download client places downloaded files there. there possibility me forcing client alter default file permission when creates files in order give write rights groups client belongs? it's terrible annoying accomplish hand chmod files can deleted in group.

umask controls permissions of created files , folders. umask defined in file /etc/profile. default 0022. changing 0002 accomplish want do. change universal , affect all files , folders created all users. don't know if possible set on user-by-user basis.
