pretty new raspberry pi i'm not sure begin idea have, or lot of tiny details. basically, want use raspberry pi computing part of machine it's own os? want hooked touchscreen controls things, home automation system or something. wouldn't making it's own os make more efficient since make more purpose built? have read creating os can ambitious, experienced programmers because of time takes. guess example of i'm trying touchscreen in tesla model s, how uses it's own os, makes professional , purpose built need it. sorry if sound idiot, i'm new of this, help, advice, or explanations extremely appreciated.

i believe tesla uses linux, there blog on web somewhere hacker managed root on tesla cid.
