first time posting, , appreciate reading it. have project in mind, , not sure how complete it. girlfriend enjoys making pictures perler beads(http://tinyurl.com/jazou6o).
there 2 ways can buy beads, 1 way can buy them little packets of single color of 1,000 beads, cost $3, or 11,000 mixed-colored beads $15. buys them in bulk, , in small packets depending on project working on. mixed-colored box of 11k, takes toothpick or fingers , sorts beads depending on color needs, , extremely time consuming. beads extremely small , not easy grasp, , has move box around sort through sand.
want create machine can sort beads using simple camera determine color of beads(through capturing picture/or video stream captures stills) , control kind of arm direct bead correct bin.
own raspberry pi 2 model b. looking tips/suggestions/leads should start poking find out how can create this. appreciate tips can find, thank much!

my math skills poor , afraid beyond age can remedy really. comes mind instead of trying replicate gf can do, have machine simpler task, repeatedly. like, 'brightest color on left, others on right'.
or perhaps beads have physical characteristic other color sets them apart, such weight. wouldn't need robotic arm, simpler device fan suffice...
