How do I set up Macintosh Classic printing to make PDFs?


a set-up works well, , 1 recommend, maintain latest acrobat on os x side, , use create pdfs. executive summary (1) set printers in classic using os x acrobat ppds; (2) print postscript files; , (3) distill in os x.
  1. locate acrobat 7 ppd, , copy it classic system folder's extensions\printer descriptions folder. in os x, adpdf7.ppd in /library/printers/ppds/contents/resources/en.lproj.

  2. create either or both of (i) adobe pdf printer instance using desktop printer utility, or (ii) virtual printer, attached version 7 ppd file. date have not found difference in these two. since they're both attached same ppd, think behavior same. note these steps have use standard mac dialogs navigate ppd file copied earlier step 1 -- if target folder , don't see ppd, change type:creator text:???? or text:ttxt.

  3. set defaults. in postscript settings section, recommend level 3 only, binary, , font inclusion=all (but note can choose selections make eps, too. in printer specific options, drop down 600. if created printer using apple desktop utility , 1 using virtual printer, need these both.

  4. print file framemaker, using 1 of these printers. find printing options familiar in windows world in framemaker 7.0 section.

  5. distill resulting file in acrobat os x.
