good morning.<br /><br />i having autonumbering issues. know it's simple fix life of me, can't figure out problem.<br /><br />i working on document section number, headings 2-8, figure titles , table titles.<br /><br />section number, heading 2 , heading 3 number correctly. however, figure title, table title, , headings 4 through 8 seem numbering off of each other.<br /><br />what should happening this:<br />heading 2 numbered 1.1<br />heading 3 1.1.1<br />then there figure (numbered 1.1.1-1) <br />immediately followed table (again, numbered 1.1.1-1) <br />then heading 4 1.1.1.1<br /><br />however, what's happening this: <br />heading 2 = 1.1<br />heading 3 = 1.1.1<br />figure = 1.1.1-1<br />table = 1.1.1-2<br />heading 4 = 1.1.1.3<br /><br />the autonumbering styles are:<br />section num = section <$chapnum><br />heading 2 = c:<$chapnum>.<n+>< =0>< =0>< =0>< =0>< >< >\t<br />heading 3 = c:<$chapnum>.<n>.<n+>< =0>< =0>< =0>< >< >\t<br />heading 4 (run-in, in case matters) = c:<$chapnum>.<n>.<n>.<n+>< =0>< =0>< >< >\t<br />figure = c:figure <n>.<n>.<n>-<n+>< >. <br />table = c:table <n>.<n>.<n>-<n+>< >. <br /><br />i'm in frame 8 on xp & have tight deadline. on fixing appreciated!<br /><br />thanks,<br />melissa
your autonumbering series labelled "c:" contains 8 fields:<br />field 1 used <$chapnum><br />fields 2-6 used subsection numbers<br />field 7 used figure numbers<br />field 8 used table numbers<br /><br />your heading paragraphs use fields correctly, except for<br />the fact have headings 2-8, current<br />setup support headings 2-6 correctly.<br /><br />however, both figure , table tags use fields incorrectly.<br />they should be:<br />figure = c:figure <$chapnum>.<n>.<n>< >< >< >-<n+>< >.<br />table = c:table <$chapnum>.<n>.<n>< >< >< >-< ><n+>.<br /><br />however, work correctly if figures and<br />tables occur under heading 3. if need figures and<br />tables occur under heading, numbering scheme would<br />not work correctly. i'll let reply if need<br />further assistance.<br /><br />-- <br />/thomas michanek
