pen drives not detecting ubuntu 8
going new user of ubuntu.i have no experience in linux or os except windows xp.i using windows xp 6 long years.its user friendly virus attacks can happen time.may have formatted , restalled xp 100000 times.my pc compaq presario bought in 2001, august.intel pentiun 3, 256 ram. want change xp , install ubuntu.as trial installed ubuntu 8.5 32bit in friend's system along windows xp , worked , lliked lot.but 1 problem.ubuntu not detecting pen drive.i have 2gb transcend pen drive, 1 gb moserbear pen drive , 1 mb creative mp3 player.when connected pen drive in various usb port show no message or sign not in task bar thing.i thought usb port not working properly.its not detecting pen drive @ all.but in windows xp usb ports , pen drives working properly.i need solve problem immediately.after install ubuntu in pc.please give link websites can find various software used ubuntu.please me urgently...............

got synaptics , install mount programmes need usbmount automount pmount ntfs-3g ect reboot , go.
