[Kit Assembly] - A few problems and how to solve them

hi guys!

so yesterday received materia 101, , spent of night assembling it. after reading posts on forum, have still come across quite few problems during assembly, , share them, in case can else.

i agree fact documentation should refer actual parts contained in package get. found sort of challenging have figure out if had parts, or how adapt instructions way parts different (pre-assembled frame, example), that's me, believe people plain annoyed @ it.

anyway, here main problems found, , how attempted solutions them:

1) in chapter "assembling x carriage , extruder", x carriage plate missing 2 holes needed mount assembled extruder block it. has manually drill holes steel plate, keeping fingers crossed actual position of hand-made holes not introduce problem in printer's nozzle positioning.

2) when assembling 6d rods y axis belts (chapter "asembling frame", fig. 5), found out frame designed differently 1 in manual, , missing 4 supports helped position pulleys (the supports holes 6d bearings supposed go). instead, 6d rods longer, , reached holes on sides of frame, "not quite". rods barely reached 6d bearings , fall off 1 end inside frame @ slightest (slightest, talking fractions of mm) sideways movement. solved inserting thin round spacers bearings outside, summed length of rods + spacers reached outer frame surface, , fixed flat plate on outside of each 6d hole, in order prevent sideways movement.

3) found few holes in frame supposed threaded weren't. able force 3m6 bolt them, etching sort of thread, , replacing sacrificed bolt one.

apart these points here, able follow instructions pretty smoothly (by taking account other people said on forum, example printing bed should put frame before y rods , whole xy carriage structure).

now, first tests, noticed print bed has problem when moving along z axis @ "high" speeds, tends jam, whereas can have move quite smoothly "move axis" program... story, add existing thread found issue, or open new one.

in meantime hope helpful, happy assembly!  ;d

i had hole in frame not threaded. luckily had been wanting have excuse tap , die set. problem solved.

i have had several other problems during assembly , still have yet produce first part.

my extruder motor not grabbing , feeding filament properly. see motor turning against filament doesn't feed unless push on little. still working on solving problem.

any tips on leveling printing bed? giving me headache currently. manuals lacking in department. i'm not sure set z end-stop , how raise bed using 4 spring-mounted screws.

the biggest problem have manual tells home axes before setting z-stop. first time homed it, z-motor drove bed right extruder nozzle , tried push right through it. had yank power cord stop motor. still not sure how damage caused , if filament feeding issues related. should have seen problem coming trying follow manual.

some of things opportunities upgrade printer. noticed board can handle twice end-stops, think it's great idea have 1 @ both ends of each axis, , room add second extruder. going adding heated bed.
