i had question regarding figure numbering answered users on forum.
on related matter, have added figures document within book, when update list of figures (which have set pick figuretitle) book file, not seem adding new figures list. have tried deleting , adding in new figuretitles in question. have deleted list of figures book , tried create new one, no avail. however, if create stand-alone lof document in book contains figures, seems work. have got setting in book somewhere impeding update book file or missing in edd causing problem?
this not emergency since can create stand-alone lof , add book, books may create in future more 1 document containing figures, i'd appreciate solution.

this guess create generated lists of something, frame allows include both elements , paragraph formats. in work, use paragraph formats, relying on edd of formatting. therefore, when create list of something, include relevant element. so, guessing maybe included figuretitle paragraph format, instead of figuretitle element, in list of figures, or possibly that.
