Thread: 9.04 and Windows 7? I'm not touching 9.10

since 9.10 problematic dual booting, new grub , thinking dual booting windows 7 , 9.04 instead.

want make sure; boot problems caused 9.10 or there many problems 9.04 windows 7? i'm under impression 9.10 , windows 7 both new , undiscovered they're far apart work together.

i'm multi-booting 9.04 , win7 without problems @ all.

combination of win7 , 9.10 presenting problems in 2 areas, though:
1) grub2. installed default in new 9.10 installations. folks have reported lots of problems gettingh grub2 detect ms windows installation, windfows 7.
2) win7 new partition scheme. on installs clean drives, windows 7, unlike predecessors, installs new recovery partition first, , standard ntfs partition. folks have reported inability grub (legacy , grub2) working new partitioning scheme.

if upgrade existing 9.04 installation 9.10, not install grub2. so, if current setup works ok, should work ok, too.

note folks reporting other problems 9.10. so, before upgrade, sure boot livecd see if you're going encounter problems.
